Victoria Hagan

Hagan's furniture designs have inspired me for years. The site in addition to displaying her home collection, has beautiful pictures of both her residential and corporate projects.

Making Laundry Detergent

The debate in finally over...I've decided to go ahead and make a batch of lavender laundry detergent. I will be using this recipe which makes 110.5 loads for only $1.11. This should be fun!

Tiny McSmall

Finding this adorable store made me remember...how much I would still love to design children's clothing.

Impulse

This online boutique has some cute clothes and really great neutral clothing combinations.

Number Boxes

I've been busy organizing everything in the apartment for the past few months and I really like this idea from Domino. This would help with the constant relabeling of storage boxes that seems to go on in our home several times a year. You just have to write down the contents on a master list for each number. Great Idea!

Milk At Its Finest

Today I was checking up on the kitchen tours at thekitchen.com and fell upon a tour of the Shatto Dairy. I practically fell off my chair with excitement...my gosh I love their milk! They sell all their dairy products in vintage looking glass with black font and make the best chocolate milk probably ever created. Here is some info about Shatto taken from their site.

Shatto Milk Company products can be described by one simple statement that we have adopted as our motto, MILK AT ITS FINEST. Our family goes to great lengths to insure that the products we sell are truly the freshest and best tasting.

  • The milk sold by Shatto Milk Company comes from cows not treated with rbST (recombinant bovine somatotropin) or recombinant bovine growth hormone (rbGH).**
  • Shatto Milk comes only from the cows located on our family farm.
  • Shatto Milk can be from the cow to the store in as little as 12 hours.
  • All of us at Shatto Milk Company have made it our top priorities to (1) limit the number of times the milk is handled, and (2) to process our milk in a manner that maintains its superior taste.

Look At Your Watch Now

The appreciation I have for menswear is no surprise. Throughout my life I've been drawn to mens suit vests, argyle socks, cashmere sweaters, and of course jams. Recently I've decided to add another to my list of loves...the mens Timex watch. I wear the watch above just about everyday and have been for the past ten months. You really can't go wrong with a Timex watch!

J. K. Place

If I get the chance to go to Europe I would like to stay here...even if it's just for one night.

Hotel Style Towel Shelf

When it comes to the bathroom everyone could use more towel storage. This chrome rack/shelf is remarkably affordable at $16.99.

Isaac M.

Isaac Mizrahi is sadly leaving Target... but his Fall line has some lovely pieces.

Pretty Shoes

With fall soon approaching the hunt is on for the perfect pair of boots and maybe a new pair of shoes too. These classic boots are my favorite right now! Only downside is that they come in three great colors and I can't decide which to buy. So I guess with time it takes me to save up for these babies I'll have enough time to decide on a color.

Where to Find Jams For a Tall Girl

I was having a dilemma finding pajamas with long enough pants legs. So much in fact that I haven't bought jams in probably two years. Thanks to the men's department at Target and Walmart my problem is now solved. There are so many advantages to buying men's sleepwear not only are they softer than most found in the women's department but they are cheaper too. With the money saved I can have my initials embroidered onto the pocket.

Blue and Grey

The September issue of ELLE Decor has some beautiful pictures of the Chicago apartment belonging to Nate Berkus. I really like it when a designer or in this case a decorator designs a space using 90% antiques and vintage finds. Maybe my other attraction to this apartment is the color palette...which is very similar to my own home.

Laura Cattano's Simple Brooklyn Apartment

You can't help but be inspired to clean out your own closet after seeing these beautifully organized closets. The small hook above the mirror is such an ideal spot to hang an outfit.
Organizational designer is the perfect term for this professional organizer... she has such a great aesthetic quality to her work.

Dress for all Seasons

This photo was taken by The Sartorialist a couple of years ago. I'm always looking for clothing that can be worn year round...what a perfect dress.

Plaid and Zebra Combo

Typically I'm not inspired by the rooms found in the Williams-Sonoma Home catalog...but today I was. I really like the unexpected pairing of Scottish Tartan with an animal print! It might be time that I got out the zebra fabric I have and make some pillows for Fall.

Italian Coffee

This past Saturday James and I headed to Spanish Fort to do some shopping. We found an amazingly good deal on some of my favorite coffee. Illy, has to be some of the smoothest coffee I have ever tasted. So smooth in fact that there is no need to add sugar...just add a splash of half & half or whole milk.

Dishwashing Detergent

I made my first batch(8 cups) of homemade dishing washing detergent yesterday and so far have done three loads. The recipe I used works suprisingly well and to be honest I really don't see myself going back to store bought detergent . Also on a side note, I found my dishwasher to be more efficient by following these tips.

New Hair

It really isn't much different but I had some low lights added to my box color blonde. Fantastic Sams here in P-cola did an amazing job...they really are fantastic.

Galvanized Bucket

I have this thing for galvanized buckets, potting trays and trash cans. Not really sure if it was all those years of watching Oscar on Sesame Street but galvanized metal makes me happy. I think every household should have at least one metal bucket... the uses are endless.

Basic Accessories for Florida

A good tote is indispensable. The wide leather straps on this one look sturdy enough for both the beach and the flea market.

Living in Florida means dealing with rain. I really like the bold black and white stripes on this umbrella. Great design and size(golf) for 19.99.

Homemade Yogurt

I eat several servings of plain organic yogurt each day...I love yogurt. When I was little my Mom made yogurt in cute little glass jars. I've been searching for a model that also has glass jars and this one looks to be a winner.

Five Dollar Wine

James and I tried this really good wine this weekend! It's light and sweet and is easily consumed on it's own... but complements spicy asian foods, mild cheeses, and desserts.

Target and Tiffany & Co.

Tiffany and Co. used to sell a fantastic set of sterling bamboo flatware. Which I've always thought would be perfect for a picnic basket..yeah I know kinda high end for a picnic...but so pretty.
Running through the isles of Target I ran into a decent stainless replica of my ideal picnic silverware. The 20 piece set is only $29.99.

Wheely Bug

While shopping today I discovered the most adorable children's toy... a cow wheely bug. Too bad these don't come in adult sizes! These little guys have received all kinds of awards and are available for purchase at Wal-mart. I don't need a wheely bug but my goodness do I want one.
